About the Creator
"She has spent her whole life looking for the best of both worlds, and finding it."
Larisa Sykes was born and raised in Uzbekistan, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in English Studies and Education at Karshi State University. She grew up celebrating Pascha in the Russian Orthodox tradition: candles, red eggs, kulich on the table, and the long walk home from the midnight service. Those memories did not stay behind when she left.
For fifteen years, she and her husband Don have lived and worked around the world. She carried her childhood with her through every time zone. In 2018, she became a United States citizen and they eventually settled in Tennessee, bringing with her a lifetime of practice at holding two cultures at once and making both feel like home.
Her books reflect that instinct. Coloring books rooted in real traditions. Mindfulness journals for mothers who need a moment to breathe. Educational resources for families navigating two languages at once. Everything Remishka Publishing produces is built to be used together, by children and the adults who love them.

Remi is a Blue Heeler who spent more than two years in a Nevada shelter before his eyes melted Larisa's heart. Mishka is a one-of-a-kind mixed-breed cat adopted from a shelter here in Tennessee. Remi and Mishka were inseparable from the start, and have been running the house ever since.
Both arrived a little road-worn. Both turned out to be exactly what was needed. They take their mascot duties seriously and are frequently underfoot during production.
